Product Roundup: The Best Travel Sets

I’m so freaking happy it’s Spring! For me, Spring signifies nice weather, pretty flowers, the start of baseball season, and of course, vacays! I know for most of you, Spring Break has come and gone, but my first actual trip of the year is next month. I’m so excited!

I thought it’d be fun to put together a roundup of some of my favorite travel kits / sets — so whether you’re glamping, beaching tripping, vacationing, or staycationing (that counts as a vacay, too!), you can still have good skincare with you. All of these brands and products are “ecochicbeauty-approved” — meaning that I’ve tried all of these and love them! (I would never recommend anything I didn’t love — truth!) Plus, what I love about travel sets is that the products come in these cute mini sizes, and once you’re done with them, you can always refill the bottles / jars and use them again for your next trip!

Green Beauty Spotlight: Shahrzad of The Spot Beauty

I’m so excited to feature the beautiful Shahrzad, the Sydney-based lifestyle and eco-luxe beauty blogger, behind The Spot Beauty on my blog! I had the pleasure of hanging out with Shah in New York City last Fall and she is just as amazing, gorgeous, and fun as she appears on Instagram! It was almost as if we were long lost friends and hit it off immediately! We met up for yummy brunch at Quartino, and spent the rest of the day exploring the city, and shopping at stores like Sézane and Glossier. I wished we lived closer so we could hang out more! She’s the real deal! Continue reading…

    Brand Review: Earthwise Beauty

Ava Zhan, the founder of Earthwise Beauty, never ceases to amaze me. She’s a brilliant formulator, an aromatherapy expert, a flower essence therapist, and an herbal tea maker. I even found out recently that she used to be in book publishing and published award-winning books in New York City! Is there anything this woman can’t do? Lol. I had the pleasure of working with Ava (and her team — hi Joslin, et al.!) this past year, and I have to say, Ava is one of the most sweetest, honest, and genuine people that I’ve ever met! It still boggles my mind at the fact that she’s mostly self-taught. She is so knowledgeable and well-versed when it comes to ingredients and her creativity and expertise shines through in her formulations.

Product Roundup: The Best Products of 2017

2017 was definitely the year of discovery! I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to try many new and impressive products this past year. Many were from new or new-to-me brands, while others were from my trusty tried-and-true brands. I spent many days and nights pondering (I’m not even exaggerating, lol) what my absolute favorite (or “best”) products were — and it was definitely not easy! I found that for some categories it was very difficult to decide on just one ‘star’ product. There were so many great brands / products that I tried, and while I wish I could feature all of them, that would defeat the purpose of this list. I decided to focus mostly on skincare and on some body products so this list wouldn’t get too unwieldy. (Although, I would consider creating a “best of” list for makeup if it garners enough interest.) Some of the products that you see may be repeats from the other two lists — because, what can I say, I’m a creature of habit and I love my tried-and-true brands! Anyway, I hope you enjoy! All prices listed are in U.S. Dollars.

Brand Roundup: Best New Brands Discovered in 2017

Happy New Year, everyone! Whether you spent New Year’s Eve out on the town celebrating with friends, or stayed in with loved ones while noshing on sushi (like me and my hubs), I have you have / had a fantastic and joy-filled New Year! I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for 2018. 2017 was an eventful, albeit challenging year, so I am ready for a fresh start — to begin anew. I haven’t made any new year’s resolutions (and don’t plan to, as I don’t believe they really work), but my goal for 2018 is to work on myself — to be the best version of myself that I can be and continue to be / do good in the world. Plus, I want to work towards a more minimalistic household. (Hmm, those sound like resolutions, don’t they? Oh well — #sorrynotsorry!) I’m interested in doing The Minimalists’ 30-Day Minimalism Game. Anybody want to do it with me? Continue reading…

Product Roundup: The Best New Products of 2017

2017 has been such an incredible year for green beauty. So many great new brands emerged and there has been no shortage of new product launches. Amazingly, some of these products even rival and perform better than their conventional counterparts! Green beauty has grown increasingly popular this past year with the help of influencers (via Instagram or through celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow or Olivia Wilde) and is no longer considered small and niche. It’s become so popular (and lucrative, I might add) that big consumer goods conglomerates want in on the action, too.

Product Review: African Botanics Fleurs d’Afrique Intensive Recovery Cream

African Botanics has quickly become one of my favorite green beauty brands. You know how people say that ‘this product’ or ‘that product’ would be one of their “desert island” products? I feel like it would be too difficult to choose just a few products, so I would choose some “desert island” brands instead — you know, because I’m extra (or is it, “basic”? I can’t keep up, lol). Anyway, I could easily say that African Botanics would be one of my “desert island” brands.
