At long last, MŪN’s new Protect + Revive Moisturizer is finally here! And as you can expect with all MŪN products, this is just as amazing. Although Protect + Revive does contain some water in the formulation, the moisturizer was first called “aman” as it “evoked the moisture-retaining abilities of the desert-harvested botanicals” that inspired the moisturizer (and of course are in the formula).
I’ll be honest, MŪN had me at “hydrating gel cream” when they first told me about the moisturizer. If you’ve been following me on Instagram for a while then you know how much I love aloe– and hyaluronic acid-based products because of their excellent hydrating and skin-firming properties. Protect + Revive also includes a ton of other superb ingredients, like:
- Niacinamide (Vitamin B) — enhances barrier protection, refines skin texture, lightening
- Prickly Pear Seed Oil — antioxidant, anti-aging, brightening
- Kalahari Melon Seed Oil — moisturizing, soothing, nourishing
- Black Cumin Oil — antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant
- Licorice Root Extract — lightening, soothing, smoothing
- Australian Desert Essence — anti-pollution, antioxidant, nourishing, moisturizing
I’ve been using the moisturizer for the past couple weeks and it was truly love at first use. In the AM, I use a couple pumps of Protect + Revive right after I mist or tone as my final step. In the PM, I like to pair the moisturizer with MŪN’s AKNARI Brightening Youth Serum for phenomenal results — trust me on this! I apply AKNARI prior to Protect + Revive in this case.
The Protect + Revive Moisturizer has a very faint neroli scent that dissipates rather quickly. I’ve found that a lot of other glycerine-y products absorb slowly and often sit on the skin, but it sinks into the skin beautifully. Immediately, you’ll notice how smooth and butter-soft your skin is and how protected it is — so impressive! It’s almost as if the Moisturizer leaves an invisible protective barrier on your skin — like you know it’s protecting your skin but you can’t really feel it there.
The Moisturizer is a milky-white color and has the loveliest gel-cream texture. I would have to say that the color and texture is similar to de Mamiel’s atmostphériques Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir, except Protect + Revive is thicker and less glycerine-y (that’s where the cream part comes in). While de Mamiel’s Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir and MŪN’s moisturizer are both antioxidant-rich and skin-protective, Protect + Revive is truly a face moisturizer while the Elixir is more of a serum.
Over the course of the past two weeks I definitely noticed improvements in my skin. My skin is now smoother, firmer, plumper; and more even-toned. What I noticed the most was how hydrated my skin was! Protect + Revive has significantly improved my skin’s barrier function — it’s helped with water retention and has even increased my skin’s moisture levels.
I love MŪN products because they are highly efficacious and the mere fact that their products work for all skin types. Protect + Revive works wonderfully for my acneic skin and I would imagine that it would work well for dry or mature skin types, as well. Would it provide enough moisture those skin types? I think it would, but you can definitely pair it with MŪN’s AKNARI Youth Brightening Serum if you feel that you need more moisture.
Final Thoughts
Let’s just say, MŪN hit it out of the park with this this one. I think Protect + Revive is an exceptional moisturizer and MŪN really nailed the concept of a gel-cream. Honestly, there’s no better way to describe it — it’s literally like a gel and cream in one — you get the best of both worlds!
